New year, new free responsive Tumblr theme

Happy 2014 is a responsive theme created by me, Katie Harron. It features mobile navigation for small screens, lazy loading of images, responsive images and photosets, responsive videos, a plethora of social icons, and more. A current preview of the theme is available on my Tumblr blog at http://www.pibby.com. I hope you enjoy it and/or find it useful if you’re trying to build your own theme. The source code is available on Github.

This theme is free for personal use and can be modified with your own custom CSS. All I ask is that you keep the link back to my blog in the footer and do not claim the code as your own.

Prison Break - Season 1, Episode 7

First of all thank you so much for give us this amazing theme as free. I really apreciate that. And I have one question: is there a way to change the background and collors of my theme? thank you — Asked by praisejunior-deactivated2013070 Asked by praisejunior-deactivated2013070 portrait

Customizing Theme: RP

You’re very welcome!

To change the background to a different image:

  1. Upload your new image at http://www.tumblr.com/themes/upload_static_file and save the URL where it’s now located.
  2. From your Tumblr dashboard, click the gear icon at the top for Settings.
  3. Choose your blog in the left sidebar, and click the Customize button next to the word “Theme” in the main content area
  4. Expand the “Advanced” accordion and look for the box that says “Add custom CSS”
  5. The background is in the body tag, so type into the “Add custom CSS” box:
    body {background: url(http://path-to-your-image-from-step-1) repeat;}
    If you don’t want the image repeated (tiled horizontally and vertically), change repeat to no-repeat.
  6. Click the “Save” button at the top to save your changes. Then “Close” to exit the Theme Customizer.

If you want to change the background to a solid color with no image, follow steps 2-4 above to get to the Theme Customizer. In the “Add custom CSS” box, enter

body {background-color: #HEXVALUE; background-image: none;}

Replace HEXVALUE with the actual hex value of the color you want, for example #FFFFFF = white, #000000 = black, etc. Click the “Save” button at the top to save your changes. Then “Close” to exit the Theme Customizer.

To change the link colors:

  1. Follow steps 2-4 above to get to the Theme Customizer
  2. In the “Add Custom CSS” box enter one or all of the following, substituting in the color that you want to use for the color of the link and it’s border underneath it (where applicable):
    /* This is the current orange color for a link */
    a, a:link {color: #f54828; border-bottom: 1px solid #f54828;}

    /* This is the current blue color for a visited link */
    a:visited {color: #2790b0;}

    /* This is the current light orange color for hovering a link */
    a:hover {color: #f7803c; border-bottom: 1px solid #f7803c;}

    /* This is the current gray color for a sidebar link */
    aside a, aside a:link {color: #777777;}

    #tweet a:hover {color: #222;}

    /* In the main content area, links in the footer that contain the time, permalink, notes, tags, etc. - gray, orange when hovered */
    .post footer ul li a {color: #444;}
    .post footer ul li a:hover {color: #f54828;}

    /* Pagination links - gray, orange when hovered */
    nav.pagination ul li a {color: #444;}
    nav.pagination ul li a:hover.page-num {color: #f54828;}
    /* The current page selected - orange */
    nav.pagination ul li a.active {color: #f54828;}
    /* Newer / Older buttons - dark gray, orange when hovered */
    nav.pagination ul li a.prev, nav.pagination ul li a.next {background: #444; color: #fff;}
    nav.pagination ul li a:hover.prev, nav.pagination ul li a:hover.next {background: #f54828;}
